Ing K, Kraisak Choonhavan, Manit Sriwanichpoom, 222 mins, Thailand, 2008. Thai & Yawi with English subtitles.

Thai filmmaker Ing K and her star, Human Rights activist Kraisak Choonhavan, discuss their film about unrest in the deep Islamic South and the resurgence of Thai nationalism in a time of crisis.

The film's production coincided with the last four intense months of the Thaksin government. Film clips include scenes of the street celebrations following the military coup that toppled the democratically elected yet oppressive prime minister.

Citizen Juling
An idealistic Buddhist art teacher is gang-beaten by Muslim housewives in the troubled south of Thailand.

Colourful human rights activist Kraisak Choonhavan tries to understand what happened and why.

Definitely not a straight documentary, but a long, strange trip into Thailand's soul with some seriously bizarre scenes, from street celebrations on the King's 60th Coronation Day to the carnival-like military coup d'etat that ends the film.
